The single finest of only four known 1848 Half Dimes in private hands, and the only example to earn CAC-approval!
The 1848 Half Dime is the rarest date proof struck in the 1840s, and is the second most challenging Seated Liberty Half Dime after the 1838 No Drapery in proof format. The present specimen was in a collection assembled during the mid-20th century, and was unknown to either grading service prior to it's submission at PCGS earlier this year, having been off the market for at least four decades.
The lightly-toned surfaces of this piece are absolutely pristine, and the frosty devices impart an unmistakable cameo effect. Elevate your collection with this fantastically fresh, finest known rarity!
